Hi,

Ok so I really want this crank Octane One '3-PCS Cro-Mo Crankset 2012' but the crank arm is straight, and my old one bent out slightly. So I'm really worried that I'll buy a crank that wont fit, cause it'll get caught on the drive side chain stray, on my frame.

Any response welcome,thanks!

It says chain line perfect for mtb, suggesting it will work on a mtb, ie clear the stays also.

You can just buy it and then send it back if not.

I have to ask...why?

kk thanks man, yeah it says 'fits all 68mm BB MTBs' so if it don;t fit back it goes.

Why what? 🙂
Why singlespeed?

Why those cranks. Al has single speeded for years so he knows an answer to that one. Unless, that is, he's been pulling the wool and is really just a wannabe fashionista and has no idea at all why he SS's.

They look heavy. I presume your bike is light?

They look heavy.

1.1kg with the BB! that's half a lb more than most tripple chainsets! And why do you need a 29t?

my bike aint that light, its octagon tubing aluminum scott voltage, 1.1kg, quite weighty i suppose but the buy button has been pushed :s

still it might not fit, crank arm might hit the chain strays.

i do have a second single speed crank w/ 36t ring but i really wanna run a 29t/12t, with the smallest rings.

so what crank should i have gotten that'll fit a 29t ring? : (

Cheers!

why 29-12?

No benefit I can see to going non-standard, are 29T rings common, and 12T may jump sooner when worn?

28 is more common i believe, not 100% on that. the main benefit is you get the same ratio as larger chain rings, but in a smaller package. i think thats how it works, sorry, im so outta my depth, just looking to get my head above water and understand dis stuff : )

although i just thought, a crank isnt a bad place/thing to be weighty is it? bottom of bike and solid materials. THanks : )

Is the voltage that jump bike thing? If so steel 3 piece cranks'll look fine. Even if they do collapse under their own gravity 😉

yar it is, it like an 05 though, to be honest, its probs rubbish but its top tube is parallel to the seat strays, and i love that design style.

i'll upload a pic of it, excuse the state its in atm! : )
