decided that the Soul is the way to go in terms of long travel hardtails.
show me yours for inspiration!
Cheers!
I have one on order, currently buying bits for it, cant wait, its going to be awesome...
I must take a picture of mine, it's very pretty
I've decided to go the Stiffee route. Oh I'm in the wrong thread? Oops! ;P
mine is five years old this week!
on holiday

been though a few components since then - four different forks, three different brakes, two saddles, two bars/stems, two cranks, two wheelsets, two sets of mechs, two headsets - lost count of how many chains/cassettes/rings/cables etc.
Here's mine:
Only had it a few weeks so far. Build is 2009 Revelation 426 Air U-Turns with Maxle Lite, Hope/Stans 355 wheels and SLX drivetrain and brakes - that lot comes in at about 28lbs (admittedly with fairly heavy 2.35 tyres).
So far it's been for a week in Spain with Sierra Cycling and a long weekend in North Wales and acquitted itself admirably. It felt a bit sluggish on my (very flat and pedally) local trails but that's probably because I couldn't be bothered to change to more sensible tyres between trips away.
There is some serious seat postage on this thread!!!!

^ Good try. 🙂
How though do you claim it as yours?
white mudguards? are you mental?
Suspension seatpost huh?
Isn't that cheating?
And the white, oh my eyes...
Sorry, musn't be rude.
It's a Soul & therefore a nice bike (ruined). 🙂
no photos in current guise..
but it looks the business with Lyriks (wound down to 140mm) and it happily steams down any trail thrown at it..
Tsk tsk... Mudguards and suspension - makes it far too sensible 😉
Should this thread not be called "Bare your Souls"?
And and good work all, there are some lovely bikes pictured.
Fenboy, what colour is that? Looks good!
its called fern green! the original red was very tatty and never made me any faster!
it looks like 'Earl grey' rather than 'builders tea' as a few are, 😉
do like that one and also the Dark brown one of Frankers,
Something about the different coloured ones!
No pics of my Soul yet. Bought a second hand, quite old one off here some time ago, looked untidy, so I sent it to Argos who have:
Replaced the old tubular hose guides with proper zip tie ones, added an extra one in the centre of the top tube, put on crud catcher bosses, sprayed it in two pack tango and put on old style blue decals.
It is having the BB, head tube and brake mounts faced tomorrow and will be built up with:
Mark 1 Rockshox Pike Teams, Chris King Rasta headset and a selection of other stuff lying around the garage. Really looking forward to finishing it.
I sold mine last week. Nice feller that bought it as well, very red he was, with a pointy beard and little horns. Stan something, I think his name was...
toons - BFe or repainted Soul? Loving the colour scheme (even if thats the look I'm after with my BFe if I ever save enough money to buy it).
its' not mine, but its a repainted Soul
Looks nice - I like!
Proper warms my heart this thread does......
Cy, any idea when the new 2010 stock of Souls will be here ?
Who had the one that was pink one side and blue the other?
That was lovely. I like mcobie's too.
Oddly, for some reason, when I came to spaff and large amount of money on a hardtail I ended up with a big, fat black beer-can one which actually cost more than a Soul. Silly how these things happen.
New batch of 2010 Souls is due 1st week in May. We'll have back orders out by mid May.
Anyone tried a new Soul with a 120mm fork like a Reba? Too steep?
pedalhead, depends what you want to do with it, I run my revs as 120mm as the default option and it's pretty brilliant. Even 100mm isn't "too steep" though I prefer it slacker.
Pedalhead - my understanding is the Geo is the same as it's alwasy been so 120 should be fine as should 100mm.
I run mine between 100 and 130 depending on what I'm doing and its fine... no its great!
Cheers fellas
What do you think of the BFe crocodilian?
looks nice BTW.
you could always start a 'show your BFe' thread
Chucky, I'm really enjoying it! Uphill it isn't too bad at all but downhill it seems way more planted, due to the quite heavy front end. I've yet to try it proper up Aston Hill near by but I think I'll like it!
I think I will start a BFe thread...stand by...
