SimonFB: I remember that unrideable snow of December 2008. Must have walked 75% of the route.

Sorry about the road bike content, but this poor-quality photo is from 1974 before I started mountain biking. I'm the guy on the right, and the fellow hanging onto my jersey is Gary Fisher.

All from last winter. 1st two are just before you drop down through Nutcrackers, near Lustleigh, the last is over near the old ice works above Mary Tavy.

Rubbish mobile phone pic from this afternoon in the Chilterns. Everywhere that had been driven on but not salted was amusingly icy today, but tracks that hadn't been driven on were wonderfully crisp. Lots of dog walkers' tracks, but only one other set of bike tracks over a 2 hour ride - weird.

Nothing doing. Can't get this image to post.
Copied and pasted several of the above images, but mine won't.
Huff!
I rode last nigh at 7pm for 90 minutes.
The woods were soooooo quite with the blanket of snow.
Some corners I re-rode and adopted the 1/2 Supermoto stance / speedway position to great effect. I had some corking long sideways drifts without even stopping.

Was meant to go over to Sheffield to ride today but decided against it (wisely as it appears) and went for a local ride onto the Lincolnshire Wolds. Freezing (-4), but good.

Took 2x bikes out today for some fun in the snow.
One shod with Bonty ACX and one with Conti Verticals.
Verticals win the grip test; both performed well.
Finally, I find conditions that the Verticals excel at!

Did anyone else's brakes freeze up? My rear caliper got some snow in and then decided it was going to freeze solid. oh well. also have finally found the limits of time atac pedals. they still work, but take a good few stamps and are ok.

An Epic days riding today with good mates. Rained last night, then froze, then snowed. I have never ever ridden in such slippy conditions. Virgin Snow most of the way around.

Knew i should have headed out, I didnt go and went to stif instead fearing i would get stuck somewhere in teh car if i went riding
