Yeah sod having to manage not toppling a laptop over, it's hard enough work not thinking I'm about to topple over!!
Can’t be bothered trying to remember how to post pics, my set up is Wattbike Atom v2, Apple TV and a big telly.
^That is high stakes laptop Zwifting right there. I can see me dropping a bottle or reaching to hit a key for a powerup and the whole lot crashing down.
Yes it's not ideal,I'll have to see what stand I can use to support the laptop
Well the vacmaster is here.
Very impressed, it's a compact little unit and puts out a nice strong airflow, very directed. Seems it'll be fine for be aimed at my torso with a little hitting my head and legs. Can't see me needing much more than level 1 tbh!
If I get another at some point I'd get some smart plugs to allow them to be turned on in stages.
I wonder if that black but could be removed to make the flow less (maybe) directed?
they released a cycling-specific version to cash in on Zwifting 🤣 Optional handlebar-mounted remote. It's twice the price though (more, with the remote I think)If I get another at some point I’d get some smart plugs to allow them to be turned on in stages.
Yeah another 40 quid for the remote wasn't worth it imo. A smart plug is less than a tenner for a simple on/off operation.
And for the nozzle I think someone on the original trainer road forum did 3d print an attachment to direct the airflow slightly differently.
I've just had the 'your delivery has been made' text too..
That's
two
vacmaster fans now, and a couple of honeywell fans as well...PLUS the 18 inch fan...
mmmmm.... drafty!!
DrP

I'm looking to buy the vacmaster 3 x bulk order ones, but i only need (want) 2 of them.
Anybody else fancy the 3rd one?
With the 10% off with being a first time customer and TCB @ 4.5% they work out about £48 each.
Collection would be better as then there would be postage on top of that
I'm in Chorley Lancs if that helps in anyway

I used to always chuckle at some of the setups you got on zwift social media with how pristine everything was (yes I know they wouldnt show anything less) where as mine was in a garage where I had barely enough room to get on and off the bike with my phone propped up on an open drawer from my toolbox
@daviek we need pics of that, I enjoy seeing the ghetto setups with laptops hanging from the ceiling via string etc as much as the pristine multi bike setups which look like they're owned by a pro! 😁
First ride with the vacmaster and it needs a slight upright tilt (sorted with a book) and probably level 2 for a decent effort.
Stated the zwift 101 plan to get me started on the workouts, is a bit easy but I really want it for the ramp test at end.

Also need to get a fabric scoop to match my mtbs, I'm thinking flat as my bars are well below the saddle.
Not many using wobble boards then? I need to test a few more saddles as my standard road preference is just painful after an hour or so of riding.
Re the indoor clothing question, I don’t bother with a jersey any more, I warm up with a hoody on then do most of the workout with the straps off my bibs.
This method will depend on your shorts though, my Planet X pro line ones are comfy without the straps but my clubman ones feel like they’re going to roll off.
I’m tempted just to get some waist shorts for use on the turbo, but a better fan is a priority.
I bought some Madison non-bib shorts for turboing and will happily ride topless.

There we go, that seems to work now!
Setup is an Elite Turbo Muin B+ used with Powermatch with a Rotor dual sided power meter. Two Vacmaster fans attached to a smart plug at the front and a remote switch behind, blowing air across my back.
Laptop runs Trainerroad and big TV has Zwift concurrently.
Works really well, and then I have some Elite rollers as well that I do recovery rides on.
Has anyone gone with the indoor specific clothing??
If by that you mean Bibs that you can see my arse in if you're behind me? Then yeah, I've got indoor specific clothing...
Two monitors on desk mounted stands means I can go from working to zwifting in about 2 minutes.
Turbo is an Elite Direto with a home made rocker plate (2 x sheets of OSB), 3 cetral vibration bobbins, tennis balls for rebound and then 6 more vibration isolator spike things under the bottom plate, which is then on some carpet, which is on gym mats.
The rocker was more to stop the whole house reverberating after we had the new floor put in in what used to be the garage. The comfort thing is a VERY happy side effect.
You wanted ghetto...

Just me who had to do a double take on the pink thing in that pic? 😂

HA HA!!
I bought these:
having seen a review that said they were actually fine to be used on their own, even though they are 'liner' shorts.
They turned up and have a 'mesh' type material in various places including all over the rear end.
No way they would be sensible to wear in public whatsoever.
But, for turbo training or for actually wearing as liner shorts they are great. Really comfy and the fit is good. The built-in pockets are a bit of a gimmick for me as the side ones are a bit small (OK for gels I suppose). The middle one is OK.

I keep considering one but haven't been able to actually bring myself to order. Can't help but think they can only be better than sitting static for xx mins at a time?

Don't order - build ! - I made my full length one from some marine ply and some inline skates and regular skates from the tip, almost no cost. Just need a saw, all straight line cuts, and some tennis balls and a couple of bungies for a forward aft auto-reentering movement too. I'm 100kg and its very stable.
I much prefer it to the static one, although its probably like oval chain rings - its a preference thing, no way to say which is *better*
My homemade wobble board (v.1) is just a sheet of 18mm pdf with 6 tennis balls bolted to the underside. Literally just cobbled together from things I had in the garage.
It doesn't allow much movement - the seat probably moves a couple of inches each side of vertical and there's a bit of front/back movement - but it does feel a lot nicer when riding.
Just a bit more natural I guess (well, as natural as being stripped to the waist, sweating heavily whilst rapidly pedalling a bike that goes nowhere can feel)
I am lazy so bought the CRC rocker when it was discounted. Wouldn't be without it now tbh! I wouldn't say it was massively more comfortable than not having one (getting out of the saddle regularly is more important IMO) but Zwifting is a lot nicer with it.
I have a rocker plate on order. Photos when it arrives and a review when I've had a couple of chances to use it.
Update on my set up, picked up a 2nd vacmaster today (eBay win for 29 quid collection only) - the last few sessions I've been literally dripping in sweat, head to toe - aiming the single vacmaster at my head stops me having to use the towel every 2 minutes but means my body gets nothing, and vice versa. Now with 2, one aimed at my head and the other at my torso, coming from 2 different angles, I'm hoping that'll be better! Set up ready for a 1.5hr TrainerRoad under/over & endurance session 🥵

Also not using the Apple TV any more, zwift/TrainerRoad both running on my PC thanks to a used GPU purchase. Oh and a much better rubber mat, and wireless keyboard/trackpad for controlling it all.
Next step would be a rocker plate but I'd need one that can roll into a fairly small area for storage.
I'm just coming up to 3000km ridden on zwift now, in less than a year (September 19th last year was my first Zwift ride).
Looks great.
Do you not wear sweat bands when on the turbo?
Look a bit stupid but a real revelation in helping the sweaty mess syndrom.
Is your keyboard a Rii one from Amazon? Looks like one I bought. Mine works ok when dry but the slightest bit of moisture on the trackpad or fingers and it is complete rubbish.
If you have the same one I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it
I had thought about wearing a head sweatband but having worn one when running I know it gets completely overwhelmed to the point where I could wring it out... Gross, right! 🤣
I can confirm 2 fans are indeed better than 1 though - I'm still sweaty but not anywhere near as much.
Yep, same keyboard - I only tend to use it at the start of end of the session so haven't gotten any sweat on it but the trackpad can be a bit sensitive, yeah.
