I'm thinking of getting one of the full builds when they are available later this year.
Show me your builds to help me decide which one
I’ve got a Secan 1 in gray putty with purple bits. Full grx 810. It’s pretty.
Mate got a Secan 2 in black with purple bits. Full grx 600. It was pretty for 4 days until he got taken off it. Fairlight are being ace about a replacement which I believe will be orange (with purple bits :o(
Pic? Later :o)
How hard can it be to post a pic??
Grx800 and 650b with Racekings. 58T frame. With added dust.
Mine is due august. Orange with GRX800 2x, king upgrade, 700c. Would have loved the grey with purple components but they stopped making it! I’m probably changing the brakes to RX4
Lol- depends. Photos on phone, typing on iPad. Is that OK?
;0p
Image posting failure. It use to be so easy!
The forum Gremlins are back. It took me about 5 attempts to start this thread !

That's the new model Faran with GRX600 double. Really really good bike. Not tried it with 650 yet but only heard good things.
Which one would you recommend to replace a croix de fer?
Mainly used as a winter bike with 38mm GK slicks and light touring with a Tailfin seatpack/bag.
Plans to start audaxing and long distance rides.
I was going to get a faran but got put off it, whe they described it as designed for front loaded touring.

I've used my Secan for a couple of 600K audaxes with 28s on: it's great long distance bike. Had it 3 years now and I'm still well pleased with it.
Here's my Faran.
Bought frameset, added various new and old bits from existing bikes - Paul Klampers, old Ultegra and Dura Ace 9 speed, Middleburn chainset, SON dynamo hub and lights, plus a nice Acorn rando bag.
Not light but does the job for me. Nicely thought out details though running dynamo wires round BB was not easy. Would be better with a T47 BB really.
Going to try and fit Ultegra Di2 mechanical shifters and gears in a couple of weeks.
Got a Secan last June and it's been fantastic. Went frame only and built up with Ultegra 6800 and some parts from my old bike. Now have two sets of wheels - one for the road with 11-32 cassette and Vittoria Corsa Controls, and one for more off road with WTB Resolutes and a 11-40 cassette. Really versatile, ridiculously comfortable, just all round good fun and makes you want to get out and explore further.

This is a stupid, unnecessary thread. I have a perfectly good gravel bike that I'm really happy with and I should not be spending my morning hovering over the Secan order button.
same here but I now want a Secan GRX600 2x
My imaginary Secan that I can't afford actually has an AXS Mullet group on it, which I can't afford either. It's orange.
Orange Secan 2 here.
Can't remember who to host pics now!!
Has anyone got a 58T or 58R in West Yorkshire that I could sit on for size?
What's the paint like? Does it need protection or is it robust enough??
Ordered a Strael recently for the road. It's gunna be a long wait.
I can't post pics but used a pic of mine in classifieds when looking for gravel tires the other day @DougD how is it withe the resolutes, thinking of a pair for around gravel use with some road for mixed riding and linking up sections
@karnali, yeah finding them really good - set up tubeless on Hunt 4Season Gravel XWides, so 25mm internal width which gives a good profile, and use them for exactly as you mention there, off road with road to/from/links.
Had a pair of Riddlers before but it's not really a like for like comparison as they weren't tubeless and were also on narrower rims that I'm now using for the Corsas. However, finding the current setup with the Resolutes much better than the Riddlers.

It's good, I've got a couple of stone chips around the BB which have marked the top coat only. Top tube has dulled a bit where frame bag has been but that's the only noticeable marking.
One thing that I would mention is that I had a bit of difficulty with an almost seized seat post: it gets regularly removed and greased now.
Thanks
I was concerned about frame bags rubbing the nice paint off. I guess I could use frame protection at key points
anyone got a size 58 in W Yorks or Manchester area?
Got a Secan with Ultegra RX, hope wheels - just change the tyres from road gravel king slicks to non slicks and covers pretty much everything. Not used my road bike since i got it, such a great bike def worth the wait

Fairlight have all their build type up on Flickr if you want to take a look.....
No too sure if that link worked but search for Fairlight on Flickr
given I can't throw a leg over one locally, how did you guys decide if the frame will fit well?
I used a combination of previous bike fit data, and comparison with a road bike I'd had for a few years. It's also worth taking to the people at Fairlight, they are really helpful, friendly people.
Disclaimer - I'm biased, we have two Straels and two Secans in the household!
@feltop - I emailed them and they said 58T should be okay. They didn't provide a phone number though.
@ElShalimo if your not sure, and really want to speak to them, just email and ask. They were more than hero to speak to my wife when she was making her mind up. If you happen to be anywhere near the NW Highlands, you can try a 58T and 56T!
thanks, I'll email them again
Loved the Fairlight website and all the info but found the Faran colours underwhelming and also am a sucker for a nice head badge. Shand were super helpful and got my cash for a Stoater. Glad they did as mine took about 6 weeks while a colleague is still waiting for her Secan ordered in Oct/Nov.
Just ordered a Secan, long wait for the frameset, September! But it will give me an opportunity to decide on which groupset to go for.
For fit, I initially just looked at the calculator on the main website but based on my proportions that was giving me a 58T or 58R which reading further, I thought may be a bit large. So I emailed them and they sent me a Fairlight Fit Report to complete based on the proportions of my then current bike which was there or thereabouts size-wise but I was keen for it to be a bit smaller (it was a large Boardman CX team). That fit report gave me a 56T with a few mm of spacers and a 90mm stem which fits perfectly
Well my dithering hasn't helped. Secan with GRX 2x builds are now scheduled for January 2022
Can anyone recommend a similar GRX 2x full bike for ~£2k that will be in stock by the Autumn?
Morning bump
ElShalimo

Dammit. Your dithering post made me panic about my dithering and now I seem to have bought a frame. Just confirmed a frame for late Sept with Fairlight, and sold a frame yesterday which kind of pays for the deposit.
Which colour?
We dont talk about the colour...... as much as I love mine... the new blue is gorgeous 🙁
ElShalimo what made you favour secan over faran?
