Have just split up my CX bike as I struggle with drops because of an old neck problem, was planning to just sell it all off and build a rigid mtb instead.
Any advantage to a flat barred CX over this (it just says hybrid to me!)
What about flipped Mary bars?
And will I need a monster long stem to put flats on it?
My first thought was that you wanted to see pictures of hybrids! A 29er may be less shameful. Can't imagine there would be much advantage. Hybrid cx if you are riding on the road with odd light off road and a rigid mtb if you are riding off road more or want the lower gearing.
Does this count? ๐ Put together this abomination from old mtb bits. Seat angle needs adjusting and I may have to go singlespeed as the cassette is too worn and keeps slipping.
Actually not too bad at all - average speed is close to what I was getting on my road bike. I reckon with a longer TT, 29" wheels and different tyres it'd be awesome.
I'm in a similar position with a wrist that doesn't like drops.
IMHO bikes designed for drops are a bit short in the top tube for use with flat bars.
The no money option would be the ragley TD1. Titanium 29er built raound a rigid fork
A 29 er would be fine be the fork is longer than needed if you use a rigid one
I've thought about specialized siruis, they look like they'd do the job. If you don'y need to caryy luggage the planet X carbon hybrid looks amazing
But I'm a skin flint so the reality will be slicks on a hard tail
sort of flat bars
