want a gold Salsa QR for the rear and it'll be dandy.

it has been cleaned and de-stickered it since that photo. i've never liked Dialled Bikes choice of font. it reminds me of the font used by the nazis. not the ideal when you live in germany....

[img] [/img]

will get new stickers made up in the next few weeks. (and maybe a new paintjob next year, although probably the same colour.)

Like most of the stuff here, this is 'nice' rather than 'bling' IMO.

There's no place for XT in threads like this though, poor show!

Bling or explosion in a paint factory? 😉

With a turquoise frame, red front hub and an orange fetish, colour co-ordination was always gonna be a challenge . . . but I reckon I've pulled it off 😉 . Built it up yesterday and just got back from the first ride - kept it urban as I didn't want to get it dirty . . . yet . . . but I did find some nice steps 😛

It's not just the gratuitous use of bar ends full stop (regardless of whether they're on riser bars or not), it's that they've been put on what it otherwise an exquisite piece of machinery.

It's like drawing a fake 'tache on the Mona Lisa!

Well this thread has satisfied my fix for shinyness and anodising.

However I think have made a mistake not ordering white rims for my 5 for only £50.

Im looking at some stans 355 or flows now. Any idea how much I would get for a set of Mavic xm317 on black hope pro 2 with DT competition spokes?

Also will non tubeless advatange 2.35's work on the no tubes rims or will I need to go to to the tubeless variety tyre.

yep they are a piece of pi$$ to fit and will work with a track pump, maxxis are always easy in my experience and my advantages were the easiest of the lot, although I'm trying some 29er ardents on stans and they took about 10 minutes to fit for the pair. 😀

mattp - they were new in Jan ridden about 10 rides.

Pro 2 - 15mm front/std qr rear

xm317 black rims

pretty much says it all really - i fancy some 355 rims in white with red pro 2 hubs so if i can recover most of the cost of the 355's id be well happy.

No, you're on crack, Hope Hoops sell for less than that.

£150 would be a result IMO, but then they're worth what someone will pay, and there are some idiots out there!

The bike, my 1994 Ritchey P-21, once my main ride but now my town bike.

The rear derailleur. Notice that the tiny adjuster barrel at the back is not stock, but a curiously shaped bit of brass about half an inch long.

[IMG] [/IMG]

Here it is in macro photography. As you can see, it is an intricate, almost microscopic casting with three separate images that wrap all the way around it, two fantasy faces and an eye framed between two fingers.

Including an owner who can't buy a bike in the right size and is daft enough to use Tune components on a bike which will actually go off road!

I have to leap the defense of the Maverick and its owner on 2 counts:

1) Tune stuff is both light and strong (but not cheap - cue Mr Bontrager's famous statement!) .

2) The saddle is no further behind the bb than a normal looking frame. This is the important measurement. It just looks very laid back because of the seat tube angle. Everybody always assumes that saddles are too far back on Mavericks, but it is deceptive because of the seat tube. Judging from the frame size he is obviously a big chap. This usually means long feet and legs so he can afford to have his saddle further back.

BUT!

There is absolutely no excuse for the rest of that build! I was just enjoying a bowl of cereal and most of it has ended up on the floor now! Bleugh! Whenever I see pink anodizing I can't help thinking it looks like red anodizing that hasn't worn so well. In the long term, you can't go wrong with black or silver.

Lol we can tell he's a big chap but big bikes ALWAYS look like gates. That seat angle exagerates it massively - if it was anymore relaxed it would be called a bed! Marmite bike - and I've never liked them.

Agreed. At 6ft 3, my entire 'stable' look more like the gates preventing the horses from getting out, and don't talk to me about Marmite bikes! I think a few of mine invented the saying!

Always wished I was short enough for small bikes, they do always look nicer and my high centre of gravity makes me rubbish round bends (well that's my excuse for poor bike handling anyway!)

Am I missing something? It's a wheel, everything is made of those materials... Except possibly the disc, what's that one made of? Having tried alu discs they don't really work, and I'd rather have steel ones!

The vast majority of bits in this photo are made of carbon, with some ti and alu bolts for good measure!
