Hi all,
Just swapped my fsa chain set for a shimano hollowtech setup. On fitting there were none of the wavy rings that were on my fsa setup, between the bottom bracket face and crank arm. Is this normal? I have the old one that was on there but ive left it off as it didn't seem to show one in what little instructions i had.
Cheers all
MMM
You don't use them with Shimano cranks.
brilliant .. thanks for that ๐
Just to be sure, you've not tightened up the shimano crank like you do an FSA one? The shimano preload bolt is done up with the little round tool and it's barely finger tight. The shimano crank rests against the bearing as the splines are longer than needed so there's room to accommodate tolerances. The FSA system bolts everything up tight as there's a dead stop on the splines, which should leave ~1mm between crank and BB for the wavy spacer.
RaceFace is the same but uses a pile of 1mm shims and a 2mm rubber spacer so you add shims untill almost tight, then add the rubber one which squashes to add the last 1.something mm like the wavy washer does.
Just to reinforce the above, shimano bearing pre load cap is finger tight, not the 40odd Nm on FSA cranks!
