[Closed] Should have thought of this. Tripster AT fork crown bolt size?

New wheels with dynamo hub arrived from Hunt, ordered a Son Edelux II, and when it arrived realised that it didn't come with a bolt for mounting to the fork crown. You have to supply your own. Which I guess makes sense as all forks are different. The Tripster AT (with the original fork) doesn't come with a bolt in the crown, and nothing I have looks even remotely close to working. Does anyone have any experience of mounting one and what bolt and nut size worked? Thank you!

Agree, after poking the mud out an M6x80mm went straight through, however hole on the reverse of the fork seems bigger so you need washers. Perhaps Kinesis do a captive nut for the reverse side?

I found a rubber washer (or cut up inner tube) under the washers helped keep the light secure and lessened vibration.

Assuming that it's the same as the fork on my 4S, what you actually need is a recessed caliper bolt nut, which sits quite a long way inside the fork. I wouldn't use a washer on the back face of the fork: at least on mine it's not parallel to the front face.

The hole is designed to take caliper brakes, which have fixed length bolts designed around old school forks which have a much narrower crown. Carbon forks are deeper (front to back) so the "back" of the bolt hole is recessed into the fork so it'll still fit a standard length caliper bolt, if that makes sense?

One of these, in the appropriate length, of course...

Thank you all, very helpful. The rear of the fork is not flush, so the recessed caliper nut sounds like a good bet. Will give that a go.

I use the recessed method not for mounting my PDW guards, it's perfect.
