I took a wrong turn there the other night and ended up on a lovely piece of singletrack

I found out when I got home and looked at a map that I wasn't supposed to be there ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Anyone know of any really narrow singletrack in the Peak? It was really enjoyable

Also, going towards Chunal from the Shooting Cabin, has anyone managed the steps without falling off? I can do most of it but always bottle out on the two really big steps on the hairpin

Yes, lots. But you're not supposed to be there... ๐Ÿ˜‰

When you say "going towards Chunal" I take it you mean this section of path HERE where it crosses the little stream?

Yes, the steps are the easy bit, getting out the other side is the tricky part!

Post up on here next time you're out Peaks way, I might show you some really narrow singletrack...

Tut tut. you would catch me riding the singletrack from the shooting cabing down William Clough, no sireee, not by a long way.

And like James I've ridden down those steps many times but have never managed to get out of the other side.

Mind you one of Badly Wired Dog's mates (a guide from one of the spanish MTB companies) has cleaned the steps going *UP* (i.e. towards the shooting cabin). 'nuff 'spec

The only way to improve is to ride more. In the words of the late, great Freddie Mercury, just get on your bike and ride ๐Ÿ™‚

Seriously, those steps posed a problems for Mrs NBT for many years: they were built about 8 years ago and it was only last summer that she managed to conquer them. Now she wonders why she had so much trouble with them - it was more of a mental block.

good job, looks easy from down here, not when you're facing down it though

Try to straighten out the bends in the steps...
...approach on the left and let the bike go to the right then left etc.
