Shiro flip up jaw guard helmet.. competition for the Bell Super 2r and only £50!?

Saw this on Ebay last night:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Shiro-Comp-Full-Face-Flip-Up-Downhill-Mountain-Cycle-Bike-BMX-Bicycle-Ski-Helmet-/351139670232?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item51c18e28d8

Makes a lot of sense IMHO and seems like it could be even more convenient for enduro than the already excellent Bell Super 2r!

Anyone tried one??

Yeah could be but it seems to be made by a reputable helmet manufacturer...I'm tempted!

Obviously would rather buy one based on peoples experience however!

Not really sure its competition.... A full on full face with flip up chinguard isn't nearly the same as a trail helmet that converts. getting on for twice the weight, looks like pretty poor venting, no real peak... its not selling itself to me I have to be honest. Looks like the worst of all worlds to me.

Plus if you did fall off with it flipped up im not sure having a big lump like that on your head would help you out

If it makes the transforming sound when ever chin piece is flipped up or down, I'm in.

You could always have the transformer sound effect on your Ipod! ;o)

Surely this lid will be more convenient than a Bell 2r as you have the jaw thing flipped up when climbing (unlikely to fall off anyway)and then have it down when your riding gets gnarly on the downs??

Or is it just a bit too dorky looking?

With helmets like that... they arent designed to be ridden with the jawbar in the up position.. The balance of the helmet on your head would be out and it would end up sliding down and obscuring your view..

It would be interesting to see if it is certified as a fullface helmet or a standard helmet (like the Bell)
