There seems to be a few versions which is confusing:

135mm 10 or 12mm through axle tech doc
142mm 12mm axle tech doc
150mm tech doc

But looking at the tech documents (linked above) the main difference just seems to be the axle in the middle. For now I use normal QR hubs but would like the option to run 142x12 later on and I also like the idea of a 10mm bolt up to replace the QR at the moment to stiffen up the rear of the Yeti.

Anyone had a look at them and know if it is a simple case of swap the internal axle and bolt through? They also claim to have quicker engagement with a screw on freewheel so they could be a bit of a bargain as you can pick them up for quite a bit less than the £50 RRP.

There is also an SLX 142x12 version which has a QR type axle but I can't see a 10mm QR which is a shame.

I was quite under enamoured by the Zee range at first but these could be little gems if cheap and adaptable.

It does appear that the 135 and 142mm hubs can be converted between 135 and 142 if you buy the bits. All the shell dimensions on the technical documents are the same so I can't see why not.

Where does the extra width come in on a 142 and 150 wide hub? I am guessing from Hope hubs the 142 is just a wider axle with the disc and cassette 3.5mm futher from the drop out on each side but a 150 hub actually has wider flanges?

Off to see if I can find the flange widths for them...

You can't convert a 135 / 142 to 150 as the hub shell is bigger. If you tried to fit a smaller shell into the wider dropouts then the cassette would sit too far in.

I have the measurements here -

FH-M640 and FH-M648 are both 57.4mm between flanges where are FH-M645 is 72.4mm between flanges.

yeah that's exactly what I thought. Where did you get the hub measurements? Need to size up the spokes.

Just a shame Shimano don't do a 135x10 version of their 142x12 internal cam QR shown here:

Pretty sure I could knock up a 10mm version though

ahh 😀 I was stuggling to find the specs online in order to size up spokes. Don't have them to hand do you? 😀
