Looking at the M086 or M161 - Anyone know the difference apart from £17 and the colour.

M161 has a tougher upper with a roomier toebox, an offset strap system to allow a super secure fit without discomfort, a stiffer sole with more aggressive tread, toe studs and a nicer insole.

Basically the 161 pisses all over the 086.

I bought some M161's yesterday from ukbikestore for £80, they arrived at my wife's work this morning, just waiting for her to get home now.

JonBurns - can you let me know what you think and about sizing. Tried on the M086 in 44 and they were perfect.

I've had some M161's for a few months now and I'm really happy with them. Previously had some Sidi Dominators and they're as comfy as those were on the bike but more comfortable for walking/running than the Sidi's ever were. Really stiff sole but some good cushioning in them for walking.

Standing up to the crap really well so far they clean up a treat and they're far better made than previous Shimano shoes I've had - I suspect they'll last a long time...

Well just got them and they're ace. I'm a size 8 shoe so thats a 42 specialized road/mtb shoe and a size 43 shimano.

I reckon I could squeeze a sealskin sock in there but maybe a little tight.

£17 difference? Go with the M161.
