As it states can you run Shimano rotors with an avid brakeset? I’ve picked up some 29er wheels for my plus bike for canal cycling and winter mud, they come with slx rotors centerlock fitted, looking online avid discs centerlock can be expensive compared to the price I’ve paid for the wheels. Any issues running this? Plan to go back to my normal plus wheelset/avid rotors come the drier months.
I've found that some combinations don't work - avid bb7 didn't work with xtr discs with the thick Ali spider clashing with brake caliper but did work with trp spyre. You'll need to check this first and then check the braking surface lines up with the pad surface too...
It’s an avid dB-3 twin pot front caliper, looking online I might have to bite the bullet and pay another £50 for rotors, pad wear etc...
Most combinations work fine. I have Shimano on Avid and Avid on Shimano.
As above, BB7s would clash with the XTR rotors but I got around that by simply snipping a little bit off the pad replacement tab.
