I just fitted my new XT brakes and was about to start shortening the hoses, well i would have except i can't fine the new olives and inserts i ordered especially for these new brakes.

Now i bought these from CRC but obviously i need some ASAP so i was wondering will my LBS probably have these in stock?

Might seem like a stupid question but i wondered if they only came with the new brakes.

The brakes came with everything except the aforementioned spares.

If its any sort of real LBS then not only should they have said olives and inserts but they ought to be able to dig around in their spares bin and sort you out for free.

yeah, they are pretty good. I wasn't sure if they only had in a certain number e.g. for builds/spares etc.

I'll pop in tomorrow and get some.

Cheers fella

Just one thing though...make sure you have the yellow shimano clamp thingy which holds the hose otherwise the inserts are an arse to get in...the should have plenty of them too if you ask.

i have the yellow things that came with it, in what sense do they clamp the hose? In my hand or should i be clamping them with a vice?

Last time i just shoved the inserts in whilst holding the hose upright.

I had the very same issue today, and the LBS had them in stock after a bit of hunting around!
