Fine with big rotors, but the 4-pot versions will be finer still

As above, the MT520 4 pot is a better option. I am very pleased with mine.

Are you a big guy op?

If so the 4 pot might be the way to go.

If not you might, might get away with the 2 pots...

MT520 4 pots have been great for me for enduros I've done. 203mm rotors front and rear and Saint sintered pads, so power isn't much different from Saints.

Plenty of people use Deore brakes on enduro bikes, they're actually pretty good with big rotors.

They weren't selling you a new set of brakes were they?

There’s really no power differences between Shimano two pot brakes in a given series, whether MT500’s or XTR. What your additional cash buys is nicer finishes, better heat management, lower weight and tool free adjustment. Not insignificant extras, but anyone who’s good running M8000 or 9000 should find no real issue with cheaper non series 500’s and plenty use them to spend the cash elsewhere, especially since Shimano piston seals made them such a consumable item.

The Maguras will be noticeably better though with very decent callipers on them. There are 2 types of lever - a longer 2 finger one and a shorter 1 finger one. The upgraded 1 finger one is meant to be the one to have.
