Need a tool to tighten the SLX 12spd chainring to XT cranks, it's the same size as newer plastic BB tool but the lockings really thin and not much clearance so can't tighten up with the plastic one.

Any suggestions? I like tools and want to have it myself rather than take to LBS.

I've got one of these which does the job fine. Slides over the axle. Clamp the tool in a vice and then turn the crank to tighten/loosen.

Edit: I'd also recommend getting the relevant size security torx and loctiting all of those 8 bolts holding ring on to spider - they can come loose as per my post about a month ago.

You can't go wrong with the £6 blue one off eBay, quality item, mine still looks like new after a dozen or so uses. It really exposes just how overpriced others are, especially Park.

Checked the T-15 bolts all seemed tight. Tried undoing one to apply loctite but it started to get munched up straight away so will leave them and recheck after a while.

those bolts are factory fitted and not meant to be removed, the PDF's dont even have them as a partno.

send back under warranty if they do loosen and/or fall out

Blue eBay tool turned up, it's really well made and a pleasure to use. Thanks for the help.
