Front shifteron my gravel bike has been getting progressively glitchier, occasionally 'jamming' and refusing to move the front mech.

When it does engage it shifts with the usual quickness and smoothness I would expect, so I don't think there's anything wrong with the cable routing.

I found a YouTube video which showed a quick fix (add a small plastic space between lever blade and shifting mechanism) but am worried the damage is terminal.

Pretty positive Wiggle will warranty it, but should I upgrade to Ultegra? Apparently other 105 owners have had the same issue...

I wonder if they sorted out the issue with the non-series 105 level hydros where there’s a white bit of guide plastic in the shifter that wears through - if that happens the cable just saws through the internal plastic of the shifter - writing it off.

If you pull back the hoods you can probably see the cable and how it’s guided through in to the end of the lever - might be worth a check to see.

If it’s in warranty I’d just get it warrantied rather than try and bodge it.

This is the thread about the previous rs505 lever that refers. Maybe they fixed the problem when they changed to full 105 series lever, but maybe they haven’t.

Hmm, will have a look. Could see a little bit of white dust where cable leaves outer and enters shifter. Had assumed this was teflon coating rubbing off cable (which merits a look of its own anyway!).

More likely to be the 'design flaw' behind the paddles, according to my local facebook CX group...
