If people ask you for directions to trails are you reticent or do you just give clear directions or even better show them?
Just overheard a conversation yesterday where it was apparent that someone didn't want to share which seemed a bit odd.
i tend to adopt the policy of 'someone was good enough to show me so it's only fair i do the same'.
Unless of course there is a good reason to limit the traffic on the trail- perhaps a heavily eroded section or a bit where the FC might not want a trail going.
I give what I think are clear directions but have a dreadful sense of direction so probably do more harm than good.
I'll happily show known trails to anyone if asked, if someone (who I didn't know) was to ask me where some secret trails where I'd be a little uneasy about sharing them.
Unless I was guiding the ride in which case I've given many a secret trail away but sshhhh!
I'd always share the knowledge, if they're "cheeky" trails I'd ride it with friends but not post directions or such
in person i would tell some one - I am less keen to do that on a public forum however.
i assume we are talking about the greyer side of legal ๐
A bit like akira - people would have to understand my lame 'just over the hill round the brown tree and up a wee bit to the left then right' style of trail description.
Out in the Wyre Forest yesterday for the first time. A nice chap called Ivan showed us some great trails - even waited for my young son to catch up. Very nice of him and much appreciated.
i dont get precious over trails.
share and share alike is what i say.
It depends on how much traffic I think they can take.
