[Closed] Servicing Advice for my new Lapierre Zesty 314

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum and have recently acquired myself a 2013 Zesty 314.

I'm from the UK and live in the north west!

When I bought it I was advised to get the frame bearings changed.

Now I'm no stranger to bike maintenance on a hard-tail bike but the full suspension is all new too me.

A quick eBay search brings up a set of bearings I can buy.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lapierre-Frame-Pivot-Bearings-Kit-MTB-Spicy-Zesty-XControl-Froggy/151254078272?hash=item2337721340:m:mcjoQcUbDf-AiHFKu8T8KtQ

Now I'm wondering if this is everything I will need? The previous owner mentioned that there is a bushing in the rear as well?

Would that be this?

Is there anything else that's worth doing while I'm at it, abart from the usual index gears, spoke check etc

Its got a dropper post - is that serviceable by me?

Thanks in advance for all your help!

Andy

Definitely check the rear bushings for play regularly, a friend has same bike and left his too long with result that it wore out the plastic and started to eat into the frame meaning it was loose even with new bushings. Don't know why lapierre didn't use a bearing there.

So that bushing I put a link too, that is the one that needs replacing?

Thanks for the reply!

I've got a set of bushings for the rear of that type of zesty. You can have them for a small charity donation to you local mountain rescue. Email your address to myusername at Gmail dot short for communication

The bushings make a huge difference. When I rebuilt my 2011 314 they were possibly the biggest improvement.  Be careful with the main pivot in the chain stay. You really need a packing piece between the jaws. The surface chamber of the chsinstay makes that one really awkward. I’d actually consider paying someone rather than doing that particular job again.

I think you need a rear end articulation kit!  - From memory, I gave Hotlines UK a call and they told me exactly what I needed to know in terms of the kit specific to my Zesty.

Oh - and don't neglect the bearings. unbeknown to me, mine seized at the BB - next thing I had a multi piece rear triangle.....

What do you mean? Is it hard to get the bearings in or out or is it hard to line everything up when you put it all back together? I don't mean to hijack the thread but i've got a 2012 Zesty and ordered a bearing and bushing kit yesterday. I'm hoping to get it done before the weekend.

<div class="bbp-author-role">Vincienup - Thanks for the advice, I will make sure to use some decent tools (Owning my own garage gives me access to some decent over engineered tackle! 😀 )</div>
<div></div>
<div>Mccraque - I will give them a call and see if they can hook me up, thanks for the advice 🙂 Its why I'm asking now so I don't end up with a multi piece triangle ;)</div>

<div>Poopscoop - Thank you! I'm not part of many forums but I thought I would seek the advice of you good people. I did have a Giant Talon which I was originally riding but after a holiday to wales and a trip to Coed Y Brenin, but on the way home my bike came off the back of the car(Rack failure) down the M6....couldn't justify the repair so took the opportunity to replace :)</div>
