I've recently bought a new frame that is all good apart from a small (2 inch approx) crease on the underside of the downtube by the headtube. It's parallel to the sides of the tube. It's more of a small undulation that is just visible to the naked eye but I only found it when I was running my fingers over the tubes (sexy, I know). It looks like it happened when the downtube was being curved during production.
So, what do you think, panic and send back or is it nothing to worry about?

So you bought a Radley Troof from CRC, send a photo to Brant and I am sure he will sort you out - he is on speaking terms with Charlie don't you know. IMO It will bug you so send back to CRC.

Don't think that means what you think it means 😉

It's a shame, I was looking forward to building that up.

Are Ragley sticking with the Troof/Bagger for next year's bikes or moving on to something else less extreme?

That dimple on the bottom edge is just the hydroforming isnt it?

Looks like a crack on the side of the headtube from that picture though.

Think you'll find that's a sticker.

When I am on here I am always procrastinating. 🙂
OP - looks fine to me, you really need another owner to compare against. Very likely all of them are like this.

andyl - I'd agree if it was central but it's more to the non-driveside of the bike. And the "crack" is just reflected light.

I've been running through my head whether that dimple could actually cause any issues and my scant, secondary school physics knowledge says it looks like it should, maybe be alright? Maybe??

Just build the bleedy thing and stop your gurning ..
Your going to have to change the carpet to a more contrasting colour

Thread delivers on so many levels...

My frame Is creased ( no it's not)
Your frame is cracked (no it's not)
Did I contact the supplier first? (no I didn't)
Do I understand the meaning of the word procrastination? (nope!)

STW at its finest.

Well the carpet usuaully gets covered in baby sick which is very similar in colour to the "chip shop curry" of the frame. So I'll leave it. 😀

I would want to hear from the manufacturers but that looks to me like a fault in the hydroforming and a potential stress riser

Guilty of procrastinate confusion.
It means doing something else to delay a more important pressing task, not quite what I meant which was.... sticking your oar in on here when you should be doing something else.

If you ain't happy send the f....r back.

My most expensive purchase from Brant broke. They did replace it but it would have been better if it hadn't broken in the first place. My other purchase from him had instant chain suck. He said it was down to the way my girlfriend changed gear. Please note she never had a problem before or since.

SEND IT BACK.

Buy SOMETHING ELSE

patriotpro - looking directly at it here, it's too far to the right to be a part of the design. Unless someone in the know says otherwise.
