I would usually stay away from selling and shipping a large bike part in the UK and ennver consider overseas, especially a carbon frame, but the offer is also a good one. Has anyone gone through the process themselves and have any recommendations for a carrier and insurance?

Overseas shipping is based on volume, so find yourself a suitable box, measure it and bash the numbers into the various courier websites. Last time I shipped a frame it was Fed-Ex to Taiwan - it wasn't cheap but buyer happy to pay.

Yup, as above - make sure it's super-well packed and take out the extra insurance to make sure it's covered. I've used Parcelforce a few times for Europe/Scandinavia and found that prices vary enormously according to who you book with - Parcelmonkey are generally a bit cheaper.

Factoring in the cost and the risk of something going wrong with the transaction I'd never consider it either. If the offer is too good to be true....
