I've lways put my seat clamp bolt on the same side of the slot, mainly to keep the bolt out of the way pf spray from the back wheel. But I see a lot of bikes with clamp bolt opposite side to the seatpost slot
Which way is yours?
Opposite because it squeezes the seat tube more evenly and is less prone to ovalising it. Solved my slipping 27.2mm Gravity Dropper problem years ago and I've seen no reason to revert to the normal way round on subsequent bikes!

Bolt same side as slot - though slot is at front on one of my bikes.
I was told by a couple of different LBS's that you shouldn't align the slot with the gap in the clamp as it produces an uneven pressure.
pretty sure the NP Mega has the bolt on the opposite side to the slot, the PA on the same side
both to the front, away from the wheel and the aestheticly better with a qr.
The seatpost, and hence collar, on my Giant Defy road bike are aero shaped, which means it can only go together in one direction - bolts to the rear, aligned with the gap.
Think my Cube MTB is the other way around though (and must have been like that when new).
So in summary, Giant and Cube obviously have different views on the subject!
