So planning to ride the SDW, likely August. I'm planning on having 2 sleeping points/breaks on the SDW, sleeping in Brighton or nearby and and then cycling home (north Kent) on day 4. Hopefully this will allow a bit of exploring.
Am I ok thinking Winchester to Brighton is a sensible direction? I'd get a train to Winchester early-ish day 1.
And any advice on B&Bs, hostels, cheap and cheerful pubs accommodation for the 2 nights en-route. Would also need to be able to find a dinner too!
Cheers
Winchester to Brighton usually means less headwinds, but you need to check closer to the time, for example this week with the easterly it would be easier to ride the opposite way.
most people go winchester to eastbourne.
SDW_MountainBikeGuide_2026-WEB.pdf gives you a good idea of mileage and places.
Cocking seems a good place to stop in terms of mileage if you are stopping at brighton also - if not just for the name.
