Looking at buying a Scott Scale 730, I'm just unsure of size. I'm 5ft 10 and ride a Large Tallboy and 54cm on the road bike.
On the Scott website I'm in between medium and large.
Any information would be appreciated, thanks.
5 11 here on a large with 780 bar and standard stem (90?). I ride a 57 road bike. I test rode both. Can you get a sit on both at a lbs?
What are you wanting the bike for? Sitting on some would be good but if you're slap bang in between sizes then intention sometimes decides the best size.
Test ride of course, but I'd go large and shorten the factory 90mm stem down to a 45 and possibly wider than factory 720mm bars.
I'm 6ft(long back, short legs).
Scott are too short for me in medium and I still find the large scale plus a little short in reach.
Everyone is different so you'll need to try one or compare geometry to what you have.
I'll mainly be using it for xc races, marathons and quick xc blasts. I have my carbon tallboy for big days out and trail centres.
I managed to sit on a medium and large this evening, I think I'm going to go for a large.m
Thanks billy
I'm 5'7 and find the medium perfect for me so think you are right going for the large
Also 5'10" and my medium Scale 735 is just big enough for me but not cramped, love it. Like they say, you've got to try both sizes.
I'm 5'11" and ride a medium (29er), I have about 2cm to spare in the seat post. I don't need a long reach, but would need a large one if I did.
I'm 5'10 also and ride a medium Scale 26", good fit
But agree it's a 'between sizes' kind of height.
...also have a 'dale Flash which is a large.
** of course the Medium will be slightly lighter!
I'm 5'11" and ride a medium Scale 735 it's perfect for me but I'm usually fine with the smaller sizes when I'm between sizes. My road bikes are also 54cm if that helps
I'm 5ft 10.5 and ride a medium sized Scott Scale team. Although I have quite a bit of seatpost showing (Because I have long legs and short body) I find it nigh on perfect and I think I could still go up a size TBH but I like the maneuverability of the medium. Measure your arm span then measure your height. If your armspan is longer than your height then pick large. If shorter go for medium. This is a good way to decide for people who are "in between" sizes. Hope this helps.
Cheers for the info everyone....
I've just measured my arm span against my height and its the same.
I sat on a large the other day and it felt right, the medium felt a bit cramped and the seat post would be out a fair way so I've ordered a large. I can swap it if it's to big but fingers crossed it will be ok
