I'm 6'3" and I like to run fairly short stems. Should I go for the 21" Scandal over the 19.5"?
Stoner off here did run a largish Scandal, now a ti29er. Worth trying to contact him.
I'm 6'2" and have the 21" my favorite bike by a long way
Oh and I run an 80mm stem
6'2" 34" inside leg.On a 19.5 with 90mm stem and layback post.Perfect size for me.
Hi Shandy - I'm 6'4" and started on a 21" Scandal.
I enjoyed it and it rides well, but is a big frame to have under you when it gets techy. When I went to the Ti29, at Brant's suggestion I bought the 19.5" as the geometry is slightly different (mainly the laid back seat tube)
Standover is much improved at that size but I do run a layback (+25mm) post but only a 90mm stem, flipped -5deg to keep the front down when running 120mm forks.
120mm forks? on a Scandal? Really oooh now thats intresting! I want more travel what forks are they Stoner?
Thanks lads!
I am not a big fan of layback seatposts. I want a fast, light, comfortable mile muncher. Sounds like the 21" would probably do the trick.
6' 2" with 33" inseam and 18" 29er scandal here with 100mm stem 🙂
Im 6'5" and had a 21" inbred, but found it rather long, happier on a 19.5 scandal now.
rich - the 120mm's are on the Ti29 - theyre reba 2009 20mm bolt thru all travel set at 120mm
I had 100mm 2007/8 QR rebas on the Scandal.
120mm is a bit OTT but I ran them in Luchon keeping up with guys on FS. Great fun on the big trails, but most of the time I run carbon rigid SS anyway.
If I were to have the rebas fulltime, Id might drop them to 100mm, but apart from the front end being a bit high Ive not found the 120mm on the Ti29 to be too much at all.
SHandy - if you want something that just keeps rolling then the 21" with an inline will be fine for you Im sure.
