I currently ride a Mk2 NomadC and have been very happy with it, descends well and climbs way better than a bike off it's type should do. However the frame is now damaged and needs to be replaced.

I guess my main concern is how similar the New Nomad is to the old Nomad, does it climb comparatively to the Mk2?

I've never ridden the Mk2 but the Mk3 was shockingly good at climbing when I demoed it. IMO better than the IBIS HD3 and better than the Yeti SB5c - both of which were bonkers good too. I beat my own "demo loop" times on those bikes with the Nomad. I expect the new 2016 Bronson v2 may actually be faster than the Nomad v3 and I can't wait to demo it. I didn't enjoy the old Bronson demo I tried at all. Couldn't afford any of them either but love going to demo days to have a play.

Do you get lifetime frame warranty on the Mk2? The guys at SC were saying how wonderful their warranty was and if you bought one (this was earlier this year) and it broke years later when they no longer produced that frame you'd be able to have your pick of new frames as a replacement.

5 year warranty on the old models, it's a warranty replacement job though, which is nice. They are flexible on either a Bronson or Nomad.

I've read a lot saying the Mk3 climbs well, I've not had a chance to demo one yet and probably won't be able to. I took a Bronson Mk2 out for a day recently, probably climbed as well as the older Nomad, I just wasn't really sold on it, I think the experience was ruined for me mainly by the shonky SRAM 1x11 drive train above anything else.

Great. Aren't you a bike manufacturers dream. 🙄

When my LBS came to replace the bearings on my 2014 Bronson they spotted a cross threaded bolt. Whole new frame winging its way to UK. Warrenty is very good

Pawsy bear - where was the cross threaded bolt? I had same issue on the lower pivot on a one month old bronson Carbon last July. Rear triangle was replaced on warranty very quickly and one day before I was due to go out to Garda.

I probably can afford one, I just want to make sure if I did get one I would get the right size and model for me. I'm more likely to buy one in a close out deal or go frame only next time. The SC bikes felt a bit short for me and had seat tubes that were too long on the next size up. I'll definitely demo the Bronson Mk2 when the demo comes around. Lovely bikes. Lust worthy.

IMO that's what demo's are there for.

I ended up buying a top spec Alpine 160 and made in the UK meant more to me in the end.

I'd recommend trying the Orange demos too. They're an awful lot of fun to ride and can be built up almost as light as Carbon bikes quite easily.

My Alpine is 13.3kg and my Five is 13kg.

I have the new nomad and can honestly say its the best bike I have owned or ridden. I honestly don't know how they could make it any better. Every bike I have had before has had little things I would change but this one is spot on. I can keep up on the up-hills with my mates on 29ers and fly past on the way back down. I think this partly comes down to the weight which I kept as low as I could using decent parts. Carbon rims, cranks, bars etc.
I have contributed to a few threads about nomads in the past so have a look through my posting history, I have also contributed to a few about how much I hated the first generation Bronson so have a look for those too.
I had a problem with the first frame where the bottom headset cup was turning in the frame and santacruz were excellent and replaced it without issue.

Seeing as we are doing pictures

Edit: as I forgot to answer the original question.
I have rode the mk2 nomad but it was a medium and too small for me. It felt really good though and helped me finalise the decision to buy the new model which at the time was reportedly orders of magnitude better.

I'd seen your posts when I was looking around, all seems very positive. Not sure mine will ever see a huck that size though!

Ideally I would have liked to test ride it first, but decided to just go with the Newmad on the basis I wasn't particularly taken with the Bronson Mk2.

Just got to wait for the warranty replacement now!

I very dread to think how much that bike cost. Nice though, not sure I would have gone with the purpleness but at least it all matches!

You wont be sorry with the decision to go for the nomad.
After riding the nomad and bronson I struggle to see the point in the (old) bronson. You just need to pick between the 5010 or the nomad and ignore the idea that one bike can be the best of both worlds.

How long have you got to wait for it?
