Nah all alloy. I think the Covert should fit the bill quite nicely. Closest thing I can think of. Nicolais dont snap as they are made from solid moon rocks...

I suppose the answer should partly depend on how you snapped the Zesty and whether it involved a type of riding you're likely to be doing in the future.

Just thinking that if you snapped it because you're getting more adventurous with your riding/air time or whatever, you might need to think about a beefier bike, rather than a like-for-like replacement?

With some bikes, if you snap it, it means you need something designed for tougher use. With Zestys, maybe not so much ๐Ÿ˜‰ Hard to tell whether you broke it because of something you did or because of something it did. Did you like how it went about its business?

Therefore like everyone else I will recommend the bike I have.

I have a covert and I love it. Climbs easy, pedals nice and descends very well.

Transition Covert or Pivot Mach 5.7. It's your basics.

One's all about being indestructible. The other is an amazing pedalling frame (best I've tried) but truly amazing on the descents. I think you need the former if you're cracking Zestys?!

All bikes have the potential to crack, I've been through three Treks, but they have lifetime warranty. Where is it snapped? If it's the carbon rear then maybe speak to Hotlines about a replacement.

My other suggestion would be a Turner 5 spot - bargain frame at Rutland.

I bought a Mondraker Foxy after my Zesty because it was lighter, slacker and had a normal BB.

Now changed to a Dune and absolutely loving it.

But if I was buying new now I'd also consider the Spesh Enduro and the new Trek Slash.

Yeah get a Nicolai, even if you do manage to crack it they'll just make/send you a replacement bit.

Simples as they're a big German mechano style thing anyway

Except on their swingarms - Trek only warranty those for one yeat.

My mistake - it's two years - see the link below. It's a relatively recent change, I think. I was seriously considering a Remedy last year, but that, coupled with the fact that putting a set of Lyriks or 36s on it would void the warranty, put me off.

Two Years
All original Bontragerยฎ forks, parts and components (except consumables such as tires and tubes)
Swing arms on all full suspension bicycles

Cheers all for all the suggestions. I just wanted to see if there was anything people would say that Ive not thought of yet. To be fair the Zesty put up with alot of abuse including a weeks singletracking in spain. I used it for its what its designed for but coming from a background in DH racing many years ago I dont like to hang about on the downs and as the zesty just wanted to go faster and faster on the downs I just kept on giving. It cracked twice on the upper stays near the pivot, once on the lower stay near the BB pivot and one tiny hairline crack on the downtube near the BB pivot. Was a lovely bike tho. More than likely going to go to covert with a light build. Hopefully will ride much the same as the geometry is very similar.

It is still under warranty though so why do get it replaced even if you sell on immediately.
My Zesty 2009 514 cracked on chainstay near BB and it was replaced in under a week. I'm keeping an eye on it at the moment as I think it may be happening again, or might just be paint cracking.

Rob, I've got a Zesty too. It sounds like I've had similar experience to you. I think that the geometry writes cheques that its construction can't cash. It really encourages you to go for it but when you do it all starts flexing and making horrible noises. I've ridden mine about 10 times since I got it and broke one of the pivot bolts. Got it fixed and I think I've just broken another one! FWIW the bike I ride while the Zesty gathers dust is my Cove G-Spot. Perfect bike for me. It's heavy but you could build one to 32lbs without too much compromise but pedals so well that it feels lighter than it is. It just feels bombproof on the downs and I never feel that I'm slowing down out of sympathy for the bike, which is a feeling I hate. I
(I see from your post that it sounds like you're set on the Covert, I've never ridden one but I'm sure it'll be a great bike too.)
