Just bought a 08 frame and wondering how to build it up. It's going to be used as my all round/winter bike as I have a 2009 5AM which sometimes feels a bit too much when I just want to go for a local blast.
I would be interested to hear about your experiences with the EBB and in which position you ride with it in.
mines got floats 140,down 2 130,1 38t XT chain ring, E13 BASH,717 custom build with red front hub,blk rear red nipples, thompson post, raceface bar/stem,fizik gobi seat, hope minis wid red leavers, picked up a 05 stumpy expert so gonna put all stuff on it apart from forks, that was my last hard tail. R.I.P
i have a mate who has one... He has tried it with coil pikes, and with manitou minutes. And has come to the conclusion that he needs something inbeetween like air pikes or vanillas, as the minutes made the head angle too steep, but were very light so quick on the singletrack and climbs. The pikes are very confidence inspiring, but heavy, and make the bike feel a bit sluggish on pedally stuff in comparison.
He tried it with my pair of fox talas and came to the conclusion ( i believe) that they would be ideal.
Oh, and the top tubes are quite long, so you probably wont want a particularly long stem.
Hope that helps.
09 frame, pike dual airs, double ring set up. Plenty much fun. EBB at 6 o clock.
thanks guys, im at that stage where all im thinking about it which bits to build it up with.
lyons - Thanks for letting me know about the coil pikes as they were going to be the fork of choice.
I run '08 Revs and they seem pretty well paired to the frame. They're really nice at around 120mm.
The EBB developed an annoying creak which got louder and louder. LBS stripped and cleaned it out and the problem is now sorted so no biggie. I run the BB roughly level with the chainstay an the front of the shell. I've never experimented with different positions, but would be interested to find out how others set theirs up.

Travel adjust air Revs with maxle or Pike dual airs and tubeless and you will be LAUGHING!
I always liked the look of the Nomad .. alot of bike !!
i've got an older '05 frame with the slidey dropouts, i've had a few different setups on mine, i used to have some fox 32 140's, they were ok till they died, then i ran my zocchi 55's on there with up to 160mm travel, was great for flat out descending but the forks were a bit heavy. now got some recons but quite fancy some air pikes toget the best out of it. they're great bikes!
