I’ve got a second rear wheel (11 speed) that is better, well lighter at least, than my 12 speed I’m running now. Will my rear mech run that without any problems too ? Guess the chainring will be fine anyway. Any tips ?

Yeah. Well I run a wide range 11sp cassette with a 12sp mech as it shifts far better than the 11sp one.
11sp gx shifter/ 12sp nx mech / 10-46 ztto cassette

Sram? The 12s Mech works ok I read online but not the shifter. You need 11 s shifter because the 11s and 12s spacing differs.
Why not just swop the cassette?

No, 11sp shifter.
Ah, mudfish might be right. I would have to check how much cable 11sp v 12sp shifters pull.
