Got family visiting in a few weeks and Ambleside has been suggested as a possible location. Plan is to mooch a bit in the a.m. and after lunch, b-in-l and I plan to ride whilst wife and s-in-l strike out for a bit of a hike. So the question is threefold.
1) Cycle hire in Ambleside
2) Biking route from and back to Ambleside
3) Hiking route from and back to Ambleside

+1 biketreks. They also have small, printed maps of all th eLakes classics and if you arrive early enough with a map I am sure they will give you some pointers on where to go.
