Anyone know of anywhere near Glossop that does bike hire? Google doesn't seem to throw anything up.

Also, looking for local/peak routes that are relatively easy to navigate and doable for a mixed ability group. Would we be better off heading to a trail centre, somewhere like Delamere?

Cheers

The Hayfield Orbital is ideal, a you never get more than 3 miles from Hayfield, yet there's a lot of varied terrain, but if anyone gets tired they can just turn left and drop back into the town ๐Ÿ™‚

To the best of my knowledge there's nowhere in the Peak hiring out half decent bikes these days. Richpips might have been ideal for you, he was running a fleet of On Ones out of Hayfield, but I think he struggled to make it worthwhile and has jacked it in to concentrate on his rather good photography.

Most of the local riding here is moderately techy on the Peak side - though nothing extreme and you could make up a fun but doable loop around Hayfield quite easily - Hayfield/Middle Moor/Monks Road/Rowarth or Lantern Pike/Hayfield. It can't be too bad as the Glossop Youth Mountain Bike project rides local trails regularly with a bunch of local kids. There's also a bit of riding on the moors between Tintwistle and Scarybridge/Stalyvegas.

The V-Graphics Peak guides are good by the way, though I can't remember how much local stuff there is.

The riding's less technical if you head over towards the Mellor/Marple/New Mills end of things

Cheers both, the bogtrotters route looks tempting, good bail options.

Some of the guys at what is now monkey trail in Bradwell were talking about putting together a decent hire fleet. Not sure if its come off though. And its no where near where you want.
