hi all...
We're flying up to Inverness and warming up by riding down the Great Glen. We're using mountain bikes and hope to do a lot off road. When we get to Fort William area we're planning on turning inland and perhaps heading cross country to Edinburgh or Perth.
Anyone have any suggestions for routes? We're going to be away for 9 days so are quite flexible and could head into the Cairngorms for a spell.
You could ride down to Aviemore via Speyside and the Speyside way. Ride down to Laggan, over the Corryarriach (sp) pass to Fort Augustus and to Fort William, Ride the Devils Staircase, Glen Kinglass - Loch Etive, Wades road (West Highland Way) to Tyndrum, Crianlarich. You could head along by Loch Tay towards Pitlochry or ride cycleway to Callander - Stirling.
Depends when you are travelling, self supporting or bunkhouse?
Down Great Glen to Fort Augustus, Over Corrieyairack pass to Laggan, then I think it would be road for about 10 miles to Newtonmore (not checked) then Minigaig Pass down to Blair Atholl, from there there are hill routes to Dunkeld, Bankfoot and down to Perth. None of these are technical really but I am sure Druidh will be along with some epic bits too!
We will be travelling self supported so are pretty flexible. Quite like the idea of some "epic" bits if anyone else has any suggestions.
cheers for that.
anyone else able to throw anything into the pot?
