My riding buddy was severely injured last year following a motorbike accident. He suffered a complete spinal cord transection at T12 which means he is now confined to a wheelchair, as wheel as massive chest injuries.
As a treat I thought I'd book him onto a Rough Riderz Taster Day at Whinlatter Forest in the Lakes. I was a bit unsure at first as I didn't know if it was too soon, especially as he had to have his spine securely fixed with metalware. I asked him if he fancied it and after he did a bit of research he was well up for it, and so it was booked, for 6 months after he got out of hospital.
That day was Tuesday. And so we met up with Phil at Rough Riderz who organises the Taster Days. Turns out Phil was also paralysed following a motorcycle accident, same level as my mate, which I think made my mate feel a bit better, a bit less apprenhensive etc.
Anyway, just wanted to share a couple of pics from the day. We had a GoPro camera, just waiting on my mate uploading the footage to You Tube then I'll put a link up. No 'action' pics, that was left for the video.
A MASSIVE thanks to Phil, and not forgetting Phil's dad who did all the driving/uplifting - top job!
I'm certain Sean will be back for more (it's certainly cheaper than the £8K for his own bike........ 😯 )
Here's some pics in the meanwhile:
Sean getting 'suited & booted'
Sean ready for action!
Let's ROCK!!!
Safely down the first run.
A bit of a rest (Sean - me - Phil @ Rough Riderz)
Ok, that's me done for the day, I'm aching a bit.....................bugger it, just one more go then.......
