Anyone got any recommendations? I want to get a cheap roof rack for Summer when I go to Wales but don't want to spend too much as with any luck I'll be trading the car in for something like a Passat estate or X-Trail after the summer.

Have you looked at the www.roofbox.co.uk?
They do a good range of roof bars at good prices. I bought some whisper bars for my X-Trail and don't notice them in terms of noise, so very pleased 😀
