I'm booked for a race at Rogate on Sunday, and looking at the forecast it seems like it'll start raining on Sunday at about the same time as Race runs will be kicking off...
I've not ridden there before So can anyone who has tell me what the place is like when it gets wet?
Good tree cover? Loamy or claggy clay/mud?
Is it worth my while sticking the swamp donkeys on or should I just stick with my normal dry-damp conditions type tyres?

I'm just 2 miles down the road from there and its sandy, so just stay with the setup you've got, should need the others there.

Top section is open to the elements and the bottom has tree cover but should hold up fine.

It's like a giant sand pit on a small hill.

When it's wet it's probably the only decent time to ride there.

Just run dry tyres.

It snows for Rogate races ๐Ÿ˜‰

Conditions actually improve if its been raining prior to race. The sandy surface grips and holds together better. However, if its really bad then some spikes or at least super tackies would be good.
As said above, you are exposed at top (on most lines) and covered at bottom.

I'll be there too, hopefully staying in one piece ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm sure I read elsewhere they were cutting in, or revitalising an old line up the top for the race. Either way it will be fairly one lined all the way down, there isn't much line choice there.

There is nothing hard there though, it's either slow & tech or a bit of a pedal fest depending on which line they choose & it speeds up a fair bit after the fire road crossing.

I quite fancy doing this one, however i've got to go to a bloody wedding instead. Annoying, as I came second at the last race.

Too far beyond line is tough. The tight corners with drops at the top make it a hard line. I would not like to race it, although I think they have used it on maybe the 2nd race.
