Hi.

Bit of a problem thats got me scratching my head. so though id open it up to the hive mind.

Rockshox Sector solo air RLs 2011

I bought them new last year took them apart fitted the spacers as per the instructions to drop them down to 130mm and started to ride them. then almost a soon as i started they started to develop a juddering/top out

The problem is that it disappears if you service the forks. After a basic service (lowers off, inners out of the uppers clean reassemple with new oil/grease.) there fine.

but then after 3/4 hours work of riding this harsh top out and juddering comes back. so at the moment I'm shipping them after every couple of rides.

All the bolts (disk, maxel, bolts in the bottom of the leg) are tight.

theres no wear marks on the sanctions or on any of the internals.

I've tried taking just the lowers off and reattaching them still judders.
Ive tried letting all the air out and then adding it back in still judders.

It seems to only be when the internals are taken out of the uppers that the judders/topout stops

any suggestions?

solo air IIRC has a positive and negative air chamber filled from the same point - sounds like there is posibly a o ring failed between the two so as it cycles the negative air gets emptied?.

Maybe? possibly?

+1

I thought something like that, I can't think what would fail as it ballances between the two every time it tops out, but that does sound like there's no -ve air in there somehow. Maybe the seals gone completely and it's pressurising the lower leg?

tinas - true - it should rebalance when it tops out.

neg air chamber valve closes when in sag, but opens whith no weight on the bike. I'd just replace the o-rings in the air leg to start, it'll be a cheap fix.
