yes

you could try it on the other side but it may be a bit awkward to use

If you've got IS mount brake callipers the the adaptor to mount them to a post mount fork also means you'll have to go up to a 200mm disc as well. I did it, and to be honest it's a bit of a heath-robinson affair 😐

Yes. It'll be all wrong on the other side. Left hand side is correct anyway. 🙂

You may not need to go up a size. I had an IS mount adaptor that fitted on to post mount fork for a while and didn't need to change the rotor size. I think it was kcnc one, will try and find a link for you.

Was tight fit on my hope mini, may be ok with different callipers.

Because if you have IS calliper, they aren't designed to be used with an adaptor at all. Add an adaptor and the calliper moves out, necessitating a bigger disc.
If you had a post mount calliper, you just buy the correct adaptor and you're sorted.

Andy9678, it depends on it he has an IS or post mount calliper mate!

So you just need a +20mm post-mount to post-mount adaptor.

The one you linked to will be fine, but there are cheaper options ( http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Categories.aspx?CategoryID=563). The Avid ones seem to be the cheapest.

Avid mounts won't work with XT calipers as the mount relies on the CPS washers to take out the misalignment between the caliper body and the bolts (if you look at an Avid mount, the front and back posts aren't the same size).
I've got a 5 ride old shimano mount gathering dust if you want it for £4 posted, e-mail d4vew4lsh at gmail dot com if interested.

I've used Avid ones with SLX brakes. Sometimes they need some spacing out, can't remember if it's every time. But yeah, there are occasionally weird issues with adaptors and it's perhaps safer to stick with the same brand as the brake.
