Upgrading the daughters bike for Christmas and the yari RC fork can be upgraded to the lyrik select RC for a mere £100 which I thought was a bargain
but then on further reading it appears very similar to the the yari.
Only difference I can see is the yari has the motion control damper and the new lyrik select has the more basic charge damper with an ifp.
I know the charge dampers of late 2 and 2.1 are far superior but is there much performance benefits of the more basic ifp charge damper on the lyrik over the yari.
She's only 17 but a very competent rider.
Thanks in advance singletrackers

Not sure which of the Charge dampers it had (certainly not the latest).  But the Pike RC 2017 I had was much better than the Yari I had before it which never felt as plush as I’d hoped.   Now on a Lyrik Ultimate.

The RC charger damper is actually very good, but needs a bit more tlc than eithr a moco or full charger. I.e. you need to get it serviced once in a while as opposed to ignore it until it breaks, which is what I think lots of people do 😉

Which would be the better damper to fit as an upgrade to a yari RC that is fitted with a motion control RC damper ?

Pretty sure I have the RC damper in my Lyrik RC, and I've got on well with it for a couple of years - it would be well worth the £100 upcharge IMO.

Only thing I'd say, is if there's a possibility to pay a bit more still for a Lyrik Ultimate, that would be a further cut above and might suit your daughter particularly well.

The main benefit of that fork is you can make the compression damping much lighter, which is great for riders who weigh less than the average male MTBer.

We have the Lyrik Select, Select +, and the Rc2 fitted to bikes in the garage all set at 170mm travel. I find it difficult to tell the difference in performance between them. Not riden a Yari.
Also from my other thread I have some Revelation RC on the ebike due a service and after suggested up grades have ordered a RC2 damper upgrade and C1 air spring from Bike 24. Not a cheap upgrade, hope I can tell the difference
