Hi guys new to the site and looking for some advice.
I'm currently riding a 2011 pitch comp and have been offered a fox rp23 boost valve (think its a high volume can) for not a lot of money and I was wondering on peoples opinions on whether its worth the upgrade from the standard rockshox Ario RL thats on the bike.
Its interesting reading about the RP23 as it seems a lot of people get them push'd?! Is anyone running an RP23 on the pitch and what how are you getting on with it? is it standard or have you had it push'd?
I'm just getting back into riding so doing a bit at Swinley and will start heading to aston hill when I get the old fitness back up. Looking to get more into the freeriding side of things if it helps with any advice.
cheers
No ones, is it the annoyingly long title?
The RP23 is very highly regarded. If you're in any doubts, give TF Tuned a call. They'll also give you a no BS opinion as to whether to bother getting the Fox shock PUSHed.
I've two bikes, a 2004 Enduro and a 2009 Wolf Ridge. The Enduro's shock has been PUSHed and I really rate it. I find that the RP3 on my Marin is very good in stock form so I have no plans to have this modified.
For what it's worth (which may not be much) this months mbr magazine's review of the Pitch Comp says the Ario is pretty awful compared to the RP2 on the Pitch Pro they had previously tested.
An RP23 is going to be a lot better, but I think most people would recommend a coil shock considering what you aspire to be using the bike for.

Sorry about the hi-jack, but what coil shock would you recommend for a pitch?
To answer the OP, not sure if the high volume air can is right but mojo can change that for you easily if your getting the shock cheap. IMO you don't need to push a shock on the FSR linkage, when i had my orange five i felt the shock needed a bit of work to get it working with the single pivot but my Pitch with the Fox rp2 feels lovely, pro pedal on for climbing and off for descending, tracks really well from standard without blowing through its travel on bigger hits.
Go for it, will be plenty better than the Ario.
In answer to singletrack hor - i also had a 2011 fox van rc on my five for more dh type stuff and that was a very good shock for the money, if you can find a dhx 3 or 5 or a standard van r then they would also work fine, the van rc has adjustable low speed compression though which will give you better climbing performance if your concerned about that.
Cheers for the responses guys;
Timmys I read the review seemed pretty spot on to me although I wouldnt say the Ario shock is terible just a little dull and small bump control is a bit lacking. In contrast I think the Sektors are fairly good ive upgraded them with a moco damper (the one with the floodgate control) and they seem more than enough for me. I did think about a coil, but at the mo I'm doing more general riding around than full blown lunacy so figured the RP23 would be a good choice.
Stevede its good to hear your thoughts, I was thinking of trying to find an rp2 but thought I may as well go the whole hog with the rp23 and for the price even if I send it off for service and to get it push'd its still going to fall a fair amount short of a new one so think I may as well, it cant hurt ๐
Singletrackhor look on tftuned they were doing van Rc's for 250 notes or there abouts I did consider one but as I'm just bumbling around swinley at the mo I thought it would be massive overkill (well for me anyways) maybe in a years time ๐
cheers
Thanks for the responses and advice, Steve and Steve ๐
