Hi there. I just bought a pair of Rock Shox Revelation dual air 426 Forks. Though they are the 2009 version they are brand new. The thing I've found with them since they have been fitted is the right side of the fork rattles.
I guess this is the side with the spring in it. This is most obvious when the wheel is out.
Is this normal or is there something I have to do to sort this out?
Being my first set of half decent forks I'm not sure.

Which way are you looking at the forks?
From a seated on the bike view?

Sitting on the bike, the left hand leg houses the 'spring' gubbins and the right hand leg houses the damper gubbins. (The spring side is the same side as the disc mount).

You mention they are dual air.....that being the case, they shouldn't have any physical springs in them to rattle about (unless there are some spring bump stops in revelations - but I don' think so). The 'spring' is air pressure in the left hand leg - and in the case of dual air you have a +ve presure filled via the top of the leg & -ve pressure filled via the bottom of the leg. For normal use, these are set to the same amount but can be tweaked to different values by a few psi.

I wouldn't expect them to rattle unless there was a problem. My mates revelations make a bit of noise, but his are coil, not air.
Does the lockout work? It sounds like something in the damping leg has worked it's way lose. If it had remote lockout, i would say it's likely to be the spring within the damper leg, but I think normal lockout forks (lockout knob on top of leg) don't have this spring.

It must be in the damper leg. Lockout seems to work. There is a compression dial top of the lock out that only moves with the lockout dial and not indepedently.
It's when you give it a little knock there seems to be some excessive rattley springy sound.
Should I get them checked out before going riding?

My Reba's have got a remote lockout, so I am not sure if it work the same.....but I would have thought the compression dial (is it gold?) should stay where it is when you twiddle the lockout dial.
Otherwise you will be changing the compression every time you lock the fork out.

Something sounds amiss. If I were you I'd be getting in touch with wherever you bought them from & explaining the problem.
