Following on from this thread, can people give me some recommendations for a good roadie pump.
Also, is it better to have a larger frame mounted one for volume, or a micro one for ease of use, but a pain in the arse to actually inflate a tyre with.
Cheers
large frame mounted is best
i bought a new zepal hpx one today from edingburgh coop
in a nice shine chrome colour
150 psi in 15 strokes
Lezyne Road Drive. Best portable road pump I've used by far.
In terms of efficiency frame mounted is best, but unless touring i just use the small pump plus CO2 and an airchuck. Tried the combination pump / C02 as well but i prefer having them seperate.
The pump to get a bit of air in to the tube and give it shape, CO2 to inflate. If i run out of C02 then still have the pump for an emergency, i'm sure it will be crap and take forever to get to a decent psi though.
Co2 is way better, inflates in seconds.
I have this pump and can get it to 95 psi before my arm goes dead.
Frame mounted didn't fit on mine, so got a Spesh air tool road. Is very good.
I have one of these topeak master blasters.
It fits snugly enough under the top tube and still leaves space for two bottles. It can achieve 110PSi with very little effort. I prefer them to CO2 and mini pumps as I've had bad experiences with both.
Looks neater in my opinion than a mini pump bolted to a bottle holder.

Lezyne road drive is the current pump in my pocket. Works a treat
+1 for the lezyne road drive pump. I've got it in medium, and on the rare occasion that it is needed it works a treat. Takes a bit of effort to get to 100psi, but its design with the hose attachment and sleek looks on the bike, make it worthwhile overall.
I have a Specialized Carbon AirTool on my road bike which seems pretty good. I've also just bought one of these which is a hand pump but can also use a cartridge for my commuter.

Or there's the air only, non carbon version for £5
Cheers all.
*googles lezyne road drive pump*
Another vote for the lezyne.
The proper connector hose means unlike a lot of mini pumps valves don't get trashed.
Ohh. Just been looking at the CO2 packs....looks so damn easy....
Lezyne for me too, although I have the pressure drive mini.
Stays on the bike all the time with a handy bottle cage mount.
To be fair I know a few people who only use the Co2 cartridges and valve adapter for both road and mtb. Small enough to pop in a saddle bag or backpack and good enough for road or mtb.
Think the only potential downsides are if you have a number of flats on a ride or that apparently CO2 somehow manages to escape from a tyre over time quicker than air would, but I have no experience of this cutting a ride short.
I prefer them to CO2 and mini pumps as I've had bad experiences with both.
...such as?
