I've a meeting in Dunkeld tomorrow, and am thinking of doing a road loop that someone on here posted up a while back.

It is: Dunkeld - Blairgowrie - Kirkmichael - Pitlochry - Tummel Bridge - Aberfeldy - Scotstoun - Dunkeld

I'm assuming the section from Blairgowrie to Kirkmichael is on the A93 - does anyone know how busy a road this is?

Hi dirtygirlonabike, i think that was me.

The section you mentioned wasn't very busy at all, although when i did it it was about 10 in the morning.

Enjoy!

good, it looks a nice route, but having looked at train times, i won't be able to do it before my meeting but will check it out at the weekend.

how many miles was it (just trying to work out a possible extension)

That's a fair run that.
Mid week the road from Blair to Kirkmichael is very quiet. Farm traffic will be your main thing.
If there's a fall of snow at Glenshee then it can be a bit of a racetrack more so at weekends.

I think it worked out at 80miles.

An obvious extension, and one i wish i'd realised existed, is to go past tummel bridge to kinloch rannoch, and climb up the side of schiehallion from there. I think that is supposed to be a better climb too, although haven't done it myself.

There's also supposed to be a better climb/descent further west of aberfeldy, from Kenmore to Amulree, past loch freuchie.

Hope that works. 95 miles or so.

I know some good loops around the 20-40 miles length ๐Ÿ™„
Just be aware that although there is glorious blue sky up here today, the wind is also a little blustry......again.
