Hi all iv got a on one 29er scandal .I was just wondering if any one has put road cranks in a 29er frame the bb shell is 68 on my frame .The only reason i want to now is because iv got sum carbon cranks kicking around i was going to run a 1x10 set up cheers Rich

It rarely works from what I've seen. A compact crankset might work, not tried if tho.

If you have the cranks...why not...like...fit them and see?

You wont be able to do it due to chainring clearance Id guess

the cranks are sram s800 compact i was going to run the 34 on the out side and run i 2mm spacer on the shell

I've run a road crank on a 29er Inbred,had to run a 68x121 BB.

I've run HT2 style road cranks on a few mtb's with 34-36 chainrings

But then the axle wont fit all the way through!

No mate,but I can't see it being a problem you just need to put a spacer or two in there to make sure the chain ring doesn't catch the frame...

i suppose the only to find out is have a go if there is clearnce on the chainstays and chain line is ok and everthing tightens up i suppose its all good

But road chainsets are designed to be run in a 68mm frame with NO spacers.

em iv heard that as well in the past i suppose 1 spacer wont hurt

hi singlespeed sheep what lengh was the shell on the frame and did you use any spacers on the bb

They may well be right,but all the are bits are there so he may as well have a bash at doing it....
