I fancy it, depends on travel arrangements. If I can't beg a lift is Blackrod the nearest/best station?

Adlington would be best [ out the station and head up hill!]I think - not sure where blackrod [station]is tbh
Horwich is a flatter route though and not that much further [ I think]

I can give you a lift up /meet you if you want to go to Chorley

yeah. straight up crown lane, cross the junction a bit to lever park ave then about a mile or so up to the barn.

Yes, Blackrod is nearest. There are fewer trains which stop there so the alternative is Horwich parkway with a ride along Chorley New road. Or Chorley and many exciting options from there but the quickest would be along the road to Adlington. But Blackrod is easiest.

Cheers all. Replaced my split rear tyre with a super sticky minion so want to keep road riding to a minimum!

Thanks for the offer Junkyard, but coming from Manchester.

That is good friday no doubt and I dont doubt we will need to share the countryside respectfully with other users.

Given how respectful and nice we are on the forum I dont think this will be an issue 😉

Grum - its more for me as I did not count cycling up and back from home 😉

To show my awesomeness I may even bring the SS 😯
Its all do able on a SS if anyone cares

I'm in. Rude not too really. I'm no good at cake as I don't do sweet stuff, but may attempt some of Graemes legendary Lancashire bhaji's

Will it be too early for daft santa hats? and whopping out my big shiny baubles?

But hang on JY, if you ride a SS how come you don't have it in your forum name, and go on about SS gear ratios all the time, and go to special meetups only for other people who ride SS, talk about SS 'pwning' trail centre warriors on 6in travel bikes, and have a 'special' brand of humour? It's a lifestyle choice not just a type of bike gearing you can use sometimes, tsk! 😉

My missus makes good cakes, will try and get her on board.

Just been told 🙄

That we have a Chrimbo do on at the Barn on the Saturday night. Last year I was completely [s]arseholed[/s] slightly intoxicated, so i will have to play it by ear.

I suppose She could just leave me there for you reprobates to pick me up in the morning 😆

Words like 'fat' and 'unfit' are all relative. And as JY handily pointed out, I am indeed going 😀

Pre ride bump to make sure you have not forgotten about it and to ensure it wont be me looking for Binners in the rain again as he hides in the pub

Weather looks like it will be dry but I suspect it may be a little cold so wrap up warm or ride very fast

No snow yet but some forecast for the area for today so there is a possibility of snow

JY - Are you worried about the result of the derby? I know that it was very traumatic last time. I can only assume that this is some sort of therapy. Out riding instead of potentially re-living last years experience. We may catch the second half somewhere. Depending on the half time score obviously. Otherwise I'll just go and ride the Belmont again 😉

See you Sunday

Not worried Binners as our defence has shown itself to be nearly inpenetrable this year- its shored up like a castle.
They need to win more than we do as they cannot afford to have us 6 points clear

I am confidently predicting goals and a sending off for Super Mario
I did send you a text re the pootle DONK

not sure if i'll be there now- the gf managed to fracture her ankle on tuesday morning so she's definitely out and i'll need to help her out with a lot of stuff this weekend cos she's essentially totally immobile at the moment (not coping well with being in a pot and on crutches for the first time ever!). i may pop up for part of the ride, but head back down to hers midway through or something...

Forecast is for snow, then sleet, then heavy rain, then its going to freeze. Should keep things entertaining 😀

I can't see Winter hill at the moment due to the enormous snow cloud presently hanging over it. I've ridden the San Merino in deep snow and its a right laugh!

Hora you will be able to get back within 2 hours without any issue- dont think this means its just a two hour ride folks as we need to ride a bit further so Binners reaches a pub 😉

In all honesty I have no route planned out as it depends what folk want to do and of course the weather

I was banking on the usual mid ride pub stop at the Black Dog!

Just a weather update - the Belmont road, and the Darwen Road by blow job alley are both presently closed with abandoned vehicles, according to Radio Manchester! Think of all those poor doggers wearily trudging through the snow!!

Well looking over to Rivi today it seems to be clearing of the snow so hopefully it will not be covered In ice 😯

I'm looking forward to the Pootle, it will be my first so I will probably just wait by the car park as I'm gonna be riding over to get warmed up 8)

It's looking unlikely I'm going to make this one I'm afraid chaps. Feeling ok but I was going to get SWMBO along and she isn't at all keen on riding when it's icy, so I think we're going to go for a (hopefully) snowy walk in th'Howgills instead. Have fun!

Obviously I am incredibly skilled and very very manly, and can handle any conditions with consomethinge style and elegance, but having agreed to do something outdoorsy with the missus tomorrow, she really doesn't fancy it I'm afraid.

Grum, perhaps Mrs G would like to bring you to the Shecycles ride at Rivi on 30 December? Obviously, as you're "very very manly", you are only invited to open gates, mend punctures, and other menial tasks 😉

We rode at Rivi yesterday, and basically it was clear below the Japanese Gardens, but icy above that point.

She would have to WTFU surely? There's an outside chance. She's not been on her bike for a while either after hurting her arm, and she's not the most confident rider in the world.

Esme that sounds good, will try and pencil it in. I pride myself on my gate-holding skills. 🙂

Men are only allowed if they're brought along by a shecyclist, and then only if they are well trained, well behaved, and open gates and buy cups of tea. 🙂
