Anybody tried the V5 spd pedals? Very light and comparable price to xt, but I can't find a review anywhere.
Thanks
I'm interested in them as well. Currently run the V4 Pros. The V5s were on Ritchey's website forever but only recently became available to buy.
Hi Joe,
How are getting on with the v4 version?
Anybody else?
I love the light weight, low profile (cleat very close to spindle), the durability of the cast steel body, and that they seem to shed mud a bit better than the Shimanos. Their weakness is the seal on the spindle. The first set that I had died rather quickly. I have greased the newer set that I have regularly by removing the end cap (with a hex key) and adding that blue Park grease till a little squirts out around the spindle seal. I do this maybe a handful of times per year, of I the pedals went under water in a stream or something. Just remember that the left end cap has left-hand threads...
Thanks Joe, may take a punt and report back
RWC - have you tried the V5s yet?
I just broke the endcap on one of my V4s, and there's some lateral play in the other one, so I'll probably have to buy some new pedals in the near future.
Hi Joe, yes I did and sold them on eBay after 2 rides! Not sure what the v4s are like but the v5s have more float compared to shimano pedals. Didn't get on with them personally and put the new xt pedals on instead. I prefer the rigid feeling you get when pedalling with shimano pedals and they clear mud a lot better, I kept having to smack my cleats on the pedals before I could clip back in. They're noticeably light out of the box though
