Having not competed in any yet, but I am looking fwd to ASAP, how much hammer do wheels get?
I have some Stans 355' and some DT Swiss 5.1's.
The 5.1's have been faultless including trips to Fort Bill, Peaks, lakes and Spain.
The 355's have except a couple of nasty dings in the lakes (very rocky BW's.
the 355's are obviously a lot lighter but appear to give away a bit on strength.
so the question are these events mainly trail centre orientated in which case the 355's will probably do or do they contain some Rocky rough off piste stuff and big drops?

I'd go for the 5.1s as the weight doesn't matter as virtually all of the stage is heading down. At Eastridge it was seriously rocky adn rough in a few stages. I'd be taking the 5.1s
Apart from Stge 4 which had a couple of V short rock gardens, I wouldn't have described Eastridge as 'Seriously Rocky', I used my 4.1 rimmed Hope Hoop wheels with 2.1 fast rolling XC tyres at Eastridge and they're still round!
Personally I'd go for strength over light weight. The timed sections are predominantly DH so you wont really notice the weight and my flows have taken a bit of a beating over the series.
Cheers guys, the 355's have taken some hammer in the lakes over the last year or so, hence my question.
DT 5.1's it is then.
