I'm wanting to ride with my DSLR camera but I have no idea how to carry it with me.

What do you guys use when taking your DSLR camera on a bike ride?

I've a lowepro rucksack if I'm taking out everything, but that doesn't give me much option about a bladder - I need to use a bottle.

If riding then I can put the camera in my camelbak HAWG, along with a flash and mini tripod. It does mean I have to take the bag off to take photos, which is not a problem when I need to set up remote flash. loads of people use a chest mounted camera bag for easy access

Camera always comes with me on a ride in the bottom of my backpack. Sometimes I'll pack another lens but I nearly always choose one before I leave the house and go with that.

There was a thread on this exact topic a while back. A couple of people had chest mounted packs with harnesses.

There's also the Lowepro Photo Sport 200AW. Been using one of these for a few months now.

That Lowepro Sport looks ok. I have a dedicated Lowepro camera backpack buts so bulky that I never use it to be honest.

I only have a Nikon D40 which has a smaller body than most. I tend to stick it in a little Exped roll-top drybag and just stuff it in my Dakine along with my coats and stuff.

I also tend to favour a fixed lense which is smaller too, cutting down on bulk.

I'm always a bit worried about crashing with it on my back, both for the camera and my back, but so far its been ok.

Do you reckon you could get a bladder in the laptop bit?

Someone mentioned the Clik Elite chest packs on here a while back.

They look good if you can find them.

I just chuck mine in an Alpkit dry bag then stuff it into my normal backpack. If I crash and break it it's insured.

I use a Think Tank Digital Holster with chest harness. The smallest size (10) will be fine for the D40.

Quick worse case scenario for you. What happens if you get a leak and end up with a bag of electronics and water / sticky energy juice?

Swoosh

You might also want to look at something like the Lowepro Slingshots. Amongst other times I use one for skiing.

I would put the bladder in an alpkit dry bag anyway. ๐Ÿ™‚

GF1 FTW IMO. ๐Ÿ™‚

You want the camera on a chest strap for easy access otherwise you'll miss loads of shots because you don't have time/CBA getting it out.

Good man. Didn't want anyone fubaring up their kit 8)

Can I also recommend [s]Whorehouse Express[/s] Wex Photographic for any purchase. They have a Lowepro sale on atm though I've also seen unbadged Lowe kit on the bay of fleas for very good prices.

I think I'm coming round to the idea of the chest mounted bag. Any one used the http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-lowepro-toploader-zoom-50-aw-black/p1520225 and the chest harness?

I have a Lowepro Toploader Pro 75 in the bag collection but without the harness.

The included straps don't lend themselves to a chest fitting so you would need the harness. Having loads of Lowe kit and knowing the quality, I can't see any usage issues with the chest harness.

Mind you my Road Runner bag has a rucksack harness but good luck with riding with a fully loaded one.
