hehe, I read this when it was published. It really is testiment to the fact that the BMJ will publish any old rubbish! Nice to see a piece about cycling though!

Nah, he used the carbon bike more in bad weather and/or when unfit and the steel bike more later in the test.
Either way saving weight helps as he points out in his conclusion - so doesn't matter whether its the riders or the bike.

Drag is a factor of considerable importance. It is independent of mass and proportional to the [b]cube[/b] of the velocity.....The [b]exponential[/b] increase in drag with increase in velocity
Do you want to tell him how this is wrong on multiple levels, or should I?
