Hi all,

Any recommendations on places to ride in western Austria/Dolomites area. I'm heading out to Leogang on Tuesday, but beyond there and Schladming I don't really have much knowledge of the area. I've got 4-5 days there and I'm heading out on my own.

Cheers!

Sorry, should've been more specific - i'm taking my Enduro bike and do enough pedalling at my locals, so looking for lift assisted stuff/big bike tour days such as the big 5 at Leogang!

I started a thread about Austria a few weeks ago, and the feedback was, basically, don't bother unless you want to ride bike parks (which I don't!) as it's illegal to ride most trails outside bike parks...so not really helpful to you!

There’s enough in Saalbach/Hinterglemm/Leogang/Kitzsteinhorn for 4/5 days

To expand on the above, the Saalbach pass covers the Kitzsteinhorn too which has a really long enduro type trail from around 2600m to the base.

Leogang has added a lot more enduro style tracks in the last few years too.

Pop into the Elements bike school at the lift base in Leogang (in the bike shop) and see if Adrian is there, he’s a good guy and will give you some pointers.

Might also be worth looking into northern Slovenia as it’s not a huge drive from Leogang.

Thanks for the info/reccos. I'm currently parked up for the night about 4 hours from Leogang and looks like I picked right based on the feedback!

Will pop in the the Bike school tomorrow, thanks for the help!

If you have your own car, you are not that far from north Italy where everything is much freer whee mtbing in concerned. Friends of mine who are into the DH/enduro scene really rate Merano. Lots of gondola access.

What he said.... ^^^^!

Get your arse over the border into Italy.
Canazei (Dolomites). Kronplatz. Paganella (Brenta Dolomites) . Reschensee/Vinschgau. Bozen. Lake Garda... all just across the border.

The Dolomites are not a single entity. The outcrops appear over quite a large area, none of which are in Austria.
